What to expect at your first visit

A little preparation makes your first appointment go smoothly. Here is what to bring, what typically happens, and how we help with coverage.

What to bring

  • Photo ID
  • Insurance card or CDCP details, if you have them
  • A list of current medications
  • Any recent X-rays or records from a previous dentist

Your first visit, step by step

A typical first visit runs about 60 minutes.

  1. 1

    Examination

A dentist reviews your dental and medical history with you and examines your teeth, gums, and bite.

  2. 2

    X-rays, where indicated

If clinically indicated, X-rays help us see what is not visible during a visual exam alone.

  3. 3

    Cleaning, when time allows

We fit in a cleaning when the schedule allows, or book it as a short follow-up so nothing feels rushed.

  4. 4

    Discussion

We walk through what we found and any recommendations in plain language, so you can decide with confidence.

Help navigating insurance and direct billing

We work with most dental insurance plans and can help you understand your coverage before treatment begins. Where your plan allows, our front-desk team submits claims on your behalf. This is help navigating the paperwork, not a guarantee of coverage — your plan’s terms always apply, and we will flag anything we are unsure about so there are no surprises.

Canadian Dental Care Plan

We see patients through the CDCP. Bring your plan details and we will explain how it applies to your care.
