Dental Insurance Help in Scarborough

Help understanding your benefits, so you are not decoding a policy on your own.

Dental insurance plans vary widely — some cover most preventive care with little out-of-pocket cost, others have annual maximums, waiting periods, or exclusions that are easy to miss. Our front desk team helps you navigate what your plan generally allows, submits claims and predeterminations on your behalf where possible, and explains your options in plain language before treatment.

Open 7 days a week, including Saturdays and Sundays.

Insurance is confusing — we help you work through it

Between annual maximums, coordination of benefits between two plans, frequency limits on cleanings, and exclusions for certain treatments, understanding what your dental plan actually pays for can be genuinely difficult. We do not expect you to have memorized your policy, and we are not here to promise coverage we cannot confirm — instead, we help you navigate what is knowable before treatment begins.

Our team works with a wide range of insurance providers and is comfortable calling on your behalf, submitting the paperwork your plan requires, and flagging anything that looks like it might not be covered so you can decide how to proceed with full information.

Predeterminations and direct billing, explained

A predetermination is a request sent to your insurance provider before treatment, asking them to confirm in writing what they expect to cover for a specific procedure. It is not a guarantee of payment, but it gives you a much clearer sense of your likely out-of-pocket cost before you commit to treatment, which is especially useful for larger procedures.

Direct billing means our office submits your claim to your insurance provider directly, rather than you paying in full and waiting to be reimbursed. Many plans support this, though not all do, and some require you to pay upfront and claim reimbursement yourself. We will let you know which applies to your specific plan when you book.

What our insurance support offers, and its limits

Benefits

  • We submit claims and predeterminations on your behalf where your plan allows
  • Direct billing is available for many major insurance providers
  • We explain coverage details in plain language before treatment, not after
  • We flag anything that looks like it may not be covered so you can plan ahead

Honest limits

  • We do not control your insurance provider's decisions and cannot guarantee what they will pay
  • Some plans require you to pay upfront and submit your own reimbursement claim
  • Predeterminations take time to process and are not available for every situation, especially urgent care
  • Coverage details are ultimately confirmed by your insurance provider, not by our office

How we help with your insurance

  1. Bring your insurance information

Share your insurance provider and plan details when you book, so our team can look into what is generally covered ahead of your visit.

  2. Benefits check

Where possible, we contact your provider to check on annual maximums, frequency limits, and whether direct billing is available for your plan.

  3. Predetermination, if needed

For larger or more involved treatment, we can submit a predetermination request so you know your likely out-of-pocket cost before proceeding.

  4. Claim submission

After treatment, we submit your claim directly where your plan allows, so you are not left managing the paperwork yourself.

What will I actually owe after insurance

What you owe after insurance depends entirely on your specific plan's maximums, coverage percentages, and any exclusions, none of which our office controls.

  • Your plan's annual maximum and how much of it you have already used
  • Coverage percentage for the specific treatment category
  • Frequency limits, for example how often cleanings or exams are covered per year
  • Whether you have a second plan that coordinates benefits with your primary one

We give you an exact written quote showing the treatment cost, what we expect insurance to cover based on the information available, and what portion you would be responsible for, before any work begins.
