Clear Aligners

Invisalign in Scarborough

Straighten your teeth with a series of clear, removable aligners planned from a digital scan of your smile.

Invisalign uses a set of custom, see-through aligners that gently move your teeth over time. There are no metal brackets or wires, and you take them out to eat and brush. At Cedarbrae Dental Center on Lawrence Ave East, we plan your treatment from a digital scan and check your progress along the way.

Open 7 days a week, including Saturdays and Sundays.

How clear aligners work

Invisalign moves your teeth using a series of clear plastic trays, each shaped slightly differently from the last. You wear one set for a week or two, then switch to the next, and with every change your teeth shift a little closer to their planned position. Because the trays are custom-made from a digital model of your mouth, the movement is mapped out from the start.

The biggest practical difference from traditional braces is that the aligners come out. You remove them to eat, drink anything other than water, brush, and floss, then put them back in. That means no food is off limits and cleaning your teeth stays simple. It also means the treatment only works as well as your wear discipline — the trays cannot move your teeth while they are sitting in a case.

Aligners suit many adults and teens who want to straighten crowded, gapped, or slightly rotated teeth without the look of metal. They are not the right tool for every bite, and at your consultation we will tell you honestly whether Invisalign or another option fits your goals.

From first scan to final smile

  1. Consultation and digital scan

We check whether your teeth and bite are suited to aligners, then take a digital scan instead of a messy mould. The scan becomes the 3D model we use to plan every stage of movement.

  2. Your treatment preview

From the scan we map out how your teeth will move and can often show you a preview of the likely end result. This is also when we discuss how long treatment may take for your case.

  3. Receiving your aligners

Your custom trays are made and we fit the first set, checking they seat properly. Some teeth may get small tooth-coloured attachments that help the aligners grip and guide movement.

  4. Wearing and switching trays

You wear each set for the recommended hours per day and switch to the next on schedule. We see you periodically to confirm your teeth are tracking to plan and answer any questions.

  5. Refinements and retainers

If a few teeth need extra fine-tuning at the end, we may order refinement trays. Once you are happy with the result, you move to a retainer to hold your new smile in place.

Who Invisalign works well for

Aligners handle many common concerns, but success depends as much on consistent wear as on the starting bite. These points help us judge fit at your consultation.

  • Adults and teens with crowding, spacing, or mild-to-moderate alignment concerns.
  • People who will commit to wearing the trays for the recommended hours each day.
  • Teeth and gums that are healthy — cavities and gum issues are treated before starting.
  • Those who prefer a nearly invisible, removable option over fixed braces.
  • Cases where the bite is suited to aligners; more complex bites may need another approach, which we will discuss.

What affects the cost of Invisalign

The cost of Invisalign depends mostly on how much movement your teeth need and how long you will be in treatment. A short case that only aligns the front teeth is different from a full correction of both arches.

  • How complex the movement is and how many aligner trays your plan requires.
  • The total length of treatment and number of check-in visits.
  • Whether refinement trays are needed to fine-tune the result.
  • The retainers you wear afterward to keep teeth in place.

A limited case that adjusts only a few teeth typically costs less than a full correction of both arches. Many dental plans include some orthodontic coverage, and we help you navigate your insurance and any CDCP eligibility. You always receive an exact written quote after your consultation, before treatment begins.

Living with aligners day to day

Most people settle into a rhythm with Invisalign quickly. You wear the trays through the day and night, taking them out only to eat and clean your teeth, which usually adds up to about 20 to 22 hours a day. The first day or two in a new set can feel tight or mildly sore as the teeth begin to move, and that pressure normally eases within a day.

Keeping the aligners clean is simple: rinse them, brush them gently, and always brush your own teeth before putting them back in so food is not trapped against your enamel. Carry the case with you so you are not tempted to wrap a tray in a napkin, which is the most common way aligners get thrown out by accident.

The honest key to a good result is wear time. Aligners cannot move teeth while they sit on the counter, so the patients who finish on schedule are the ones who keep them in. Once you are done, wearing your retainer as directed is what protects the outcome, since teeth naturally drift over a lifetime. Many patients pair the end of treatment with teeth whitening for a brighter finish, and we are happy to talk that through.

Insurance and payment

Orthodontic treatment like Invisalign is covered in part by many dental plans, though coverage often has a lifetime maximum and may apply differently for adults and children. Our team can help you check your plan and understand what it may contribute before you decide.

If you are exploring the Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP), we can talk through what it may include for your situation without promising a specific outcome, since that depends on your eligibility. Either way, you will have a clear written estimate up front so you can plan with confidence.
