Know which spaces ordinary floss cannot enter
The replacement tooth in a bridge is connected to its neighbouring support. That connection means you cannot always bring floss down from above as you would between separate natural teeth. You may need to pass a cleaning aid underneath instead.
Do not try to create a gap by forcing floss against the connector. A demonstration is more useful than guessing which direction to push. Ask the clinician to identify the gumline around each support and the underside of the replacement tooth, then let you practise with supervision. Match the tool to the space and your hands
Bring up limited hand movement, difficulty seeing the back teeth, or trouble managing ordinary floss. These details matter when choosing something you can use consistently. A product that works around one bridge may not suit another design.

Treat a changing cleaning problem as useful information

Tell the office if food suddenly traps in a new spot, bleeding persists, the bridge feels loose, or cleaning becomes painful. These observations do not diagnose a cause, but they help explain why a review is needed. Do not scrape beneath the bridge with improvised sharp objects or attempt to detach it.

Three common questions
Can mouthwash replace cleaning underneath? Do not assume so. Ask for a routine that removes plaque from the spaces your bridge creates, rather than relying on rinsing alone.
